President Paul Biya has ordered high military and police protection of the national territory. The Cameroonian dictator who has won the hearts of his people again with his anti Boko Haram stance and policy recently placed under total surveillance Yaoundé, the political capital of Cameroon, Douala, the main economic city, Bafoussam in the West, Garoua in the North, Buea, the capital of the Southwest, Bamenda (North-West), Bertoua in the East and Ebolowa in the South including Ngaoundere.
Cameroon Concord gathered that President Biya made the decision after Cameroon’s secret service hinted that Boko Haram was planning an attack deep inside Cameroon territory. A senior military officer who has been helping us in our coverage of the war in the Far North observed at the time of writing this report that the Nigerian Islamic sect; Boko Haram will soon breathe their last.
Under the new security directives, travelers have to be admitted into the travel lodge of any agency after going through major security checks including their luggage. It has become almost impossible to move without your national identity card. Recently, a search of a bus en route to Yaounde from Douala enabled the police to discover a bag containing weapons. Many jurisdictions and business centres have also strengthened controls at their entrances.

It was another traditional moment in Bamenda with manifestations making the National Youth Day. Thousands of pupils and students from nursery, primary, secondary and tertiary schools joined Northwest Governor Adolph Lele L’afrique on the Commercial Avenue ceremonial to celebrate the Youth Day in its 49th edition. Activities which lasted over five hours were marked by the replay of President Biya’s message to the Youths, handing over of Awards of excellence to some youths by Northwest Governor, and a long march pass by educational establishment, professional and vocational training centers and the youth wing of the ruling CPDM party.
According to the Regional Governor, the event was successful as “children came from the grass roots to participate in show of love for country and in support to the Head of State in the fight against Boko Haram.” On the awards of excellence, Adolph Lele explained that giving awards to youths in the informal sector is to expose them to employers and businessmen for possible employment. He also added that the award was to encourage those who are not going to school but are in gainful activities and areas like livestock, handicraft and agriculture to understand that they too can contribute to Cameroon’s emergence.
Celebrated under the theme “youths and the preservation of peace for an emergent Cameroon” this year’s event was expected to race awareness on the need for youths to contribute in more than one way for the preservation of peace particularly against the Nigerian terrorist group Boko Haram. While some opinion in the country see this event as a smoke screen to the real problem Cameroonian youths are facing, the Regional Governor argues that “from the faces of the youths who marched passed expressing their talents, they were happy as a sign of love for the day and its activities”.

After the son of Equatorial Guinea's President Teodoro Obiang, French financial prosecutors have indicted President Sassou Nguesso family following an investigation of ill-gotten gains targeting the entourage of the Congolese Head of State. The judges Roger Le Loire and Rene Grouman have rejected out rightly previous demand by Congolese President Denis Sassou Nguesso in April 2013 during an official visit for France not to investigate his family investments within the EU.
Like the late Gabonese President Omar Bongo who died some years ago and the Equatorial Guinea chief executive President Obiang, the president of Congo Brazzavile and his family have ever since 2009 been under a French judicial investigation for financial crimes committed against their own people. It was triggered by a complaint made to the French judiciary by Transparency International accusing President Nguessou "of having misappropriated for his own benefit and for the benefit of his family and his clan, a substantial part of oil revenues" of the Central Africa nation.
A fortnight ago, the French authorities confiscated a fleet of luxury vehicles in Neuilly-sur-Seine from family members of the Sassou Nguesso family. In this affluent town in the Paris suburbs, investigators conducted a search on 3 October 2014 in a triplex of 300 m2 of which they are convinced that "the real owners," hidden behind real estate companies (SCI) are members of the Sassou-Bongo family.
A dramatic raid of one of the residence which culminated to an inventory, found that jewelry, watches sometimes set with precious stones, designer clothes with some still carrying their price tags amounting to several thousand euros were discovered. Also found at the said residence were receipts and bills over 1.3 million between February 2010 and January 2011. A suitcase was found with wads of banknotes in denominations of 100 and 200 for more than 250,000 euros including nearly 150,000 dollars.
