Cameroon: Workers on the Yaounde/Douala road project on strike

The workers are protesting against the non-payment of the allowances and poor working conditions.One of the striking workers, Rene Italanga a Laboratory Assistant stated that they are not well paid, their categories are not respected their housing, feeding lodging allowance and transport fees ignored. Representatives of the striking workers have this 1st November 2016 met wth the Secretary General at the Centre Governor\’s office.

The workers however expressed hope that a solution shall be found but remained determined to continue if nothing is done.It is the fourth time the workers of the China first Highway Engineering Company limited are embarking on a seat down strike for almost thesame reasons.
