Nigeria's “president-elect”, Bola Tinubu, is still being attended to by medical doctors at the facility he went to in Paris, France, a top source told SaharaReporters on Thursday.
SaharaReporters had exclusively reported on Wednesday that Tinubu travelled to Europe to seek medical care after falling ill following the March 18 elections.
It had been gathered that Tinubu fell ill after the “hectic” electioneering that led to his emergence as the 'President-elect' and the tension that built up ahead of the March 18 Lagos State governorship and House of Assembly elections where he also voted.
Tinubu had confirmed SaharaReporters’ story saying he travelled to Paris, France and the United Kingdom to rest and plan the transition programme, according to a statement by his spokesperson, Tunde Rahman.
Speaking with SaharaReporters on Thursday to provide an update, a top source said, “Tinubu is still in France hospital.”
Meanwhile, according to the statement by Tunde Rahman, his spokesman, Tinubu would also observe the lesser hajj in Saudi Arabia.
He departed Lagos on Tuesday night for Paris as reported by SaharaReporters and confirmed by his spokesperson.

Russia said Monday that it had opened a criminal investigation into International Criminal Court prosecutor Karim Khan after the court based in The Hague issued an arrest warrant for President Vladimir Putin.
"The Russian Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case against the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court Karim Ahmad Khan" and several ICC judges, the Investigative Committee said, based on their "unlawful" decision to seek Putin's arrest.
Khan is being investigated on the grounds of "criminal prosecution of a person known to be innocent... and preparation of an attack on a representative of a foreign state enjoying international protection," the statement from the Investigative Committee said.
The ICC on Friday announced an arrest warrant for Putin on the war crime accusation of unlawfully deporting Ukrainian children.
The Hague-based ICC said it had also issued a warrant against Maria Lvova-Belova, Russia's presidential commissioner for children's rights, on similar charges.
Moscow dismissed the orders as "void."
More than 16,000 Ukrainian children have been deported to Russia since the Feb. 24, 2022 invasion, according to Kyiv, with many allegedly placed in institutions and foster homes.

Russia, a key arms exporter to Africa, is making forays into the continent including through mining projects granted to the Wagner private paramilitary group.
Turkey announced this weekend the extension of the deal that has allowed Ukraine to export grain following Russia's offensive, but Moscow has said it only agreed to a 60-day extension, not 120 days.
Putin said on Monday Russia would continue to deliver grain, regardless of the status of the deal.
"If we decide not to extend this deal after 60 days, then we are ready to supply free of charge the volumes that were sent to the countries most in need in Africa," he said during a televised address.
The deal brokered by Turkey and the United Nations in July 2022 — and signed by Kyiv and Moscow — had allowed for the safe passage of exports. It was extended for 120 days in November.

President-elect Bola Tinubu has been flown abroad on a secret trip overnight that could complicate the ongoing transition phase in the country, according to two of his associates who related with Peoples Gazette on the matter.
The associates declined to mention which country Mr Tinubu was flown to, but they insisted it was not on medical emergency and he would soon return to the country. They spoke under anonymity with The Gazette because Mr Tinubu’s team was still deliberating a press statement on the matter.
Sahara Reporters was the first to report the news of Mr Tinubu’s trip on Wednesday afternoon, with the online outlet citing its sources that said the new Nigerian leader was flown to Europe for medical treatment.
Sahara Reporters also said Mr Tinubu, who was declared winner of Nigeria’s presidential election last month, took ill after months of uninterrupted political activities that peaked towards the end of the year-long campaign.
Bayo Onanuga, a spokesman for Mr Tinubu, said in a message to The Gazette that his principal travelled abroad to rest and will soon return to the country.
“He travelled to rest after the hectic electioneering,” Mr Onanuga said. “Will soon return home.”
Mr Tinubu, 70, could find himself explaining yet again his medical status that has drawn keen interest from a sceptical public.
In recent years, Mr Tinubu has made several emergency trips abroad, including in late January 2022 when he was rushed to London while the primary campaign was underway.
Shortly after returning from the London trip, Mr Tinubu appeared to urinate on himself while visiting a prominent traditional ruler in the country’s southwest.
In September 2022, Mr Tinubu was again in London, where he reportedly spent several weeks receiving treatments from several doctors. He also strapped a urine bag on himself during the trip.
Despite several indications that Mr Tinubu might not be in good health, including his repeated, the politician has maintained that he is physically and mentally fit to govern.
He admitted at a point that he might lack physical strength but said his mental capacity would be sufficient to pilot the nation’s affairs.
Mr Tinubu is inheriting Nigeria’s over 200 million people from Muhammadu Buhari, the incumbent who makes regular trips to London to treat undisclosed ailments. At several points in his eight-year tenure,
Mr Buhari spent several months on a single trip to London. He has never publicly acknowledged the nature of his illness and how much of state resources he used.

Nigeria’s opposition Labour Party candidate Peter Obi has filed a court petition challenging the outcome of last month’s disputed presidential election that was won by the ruling party, a spokesperson from his party said on Tuesday.
Obi, who campaigned as an outsider, galvanised many young and first-time voters but came third in the election, behind winner Bola Tinubu from the ruling All Progressives Congress party and main opposition People’s Democratic Party’s Atiku Abubakar. Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) came a distant fourth but was still ahead of 14 other candidates.
“We are challenging the qualifications of the candidate that was declared the winner. We are also challenging the processes that led to his declaration as the winner, among others,” Labour Party spokesperson Yunusa Tanko told journalists.
Election observers from the European Union, the Commonwealth, and other bodies reported a range of problems, among them failures in systems designed to prevent vote manipulation.
The observers criticised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for poor planning and voting delays, but they did not allege fraud. The commission itself apologised for technical problems during the count.
The presidential race was seen as the most competitive in Nigeria’s political history, with Obi and Kwankwaso posing a credible challenge to the two traditional main parties.
“I will challenge this rascality for the future of the country,” Obi said at a press conference on March 2. “This is not the end but the beginning of the journey for the birth of a new Nigeria.”
Later that day Abubakar also signified his intention to contest the election but it is uncertain if he has filed a suit to that effect yet.
The Supreme Court of Nigeria has never overturned a presidential election, though legal challenges are common, including by outgoing President Muhammadu Buhari, who doggedly and unsuccessfully fought multiple election losses for months in vain.
Barring any decision to the contrary from the courts, Tinubu will be sworn in on May 29 as successor to Buhari who has been in power since 2015.
