In response to recent fuel distribution challenges causing tension, the Ministry of Water and Energy in Cameroon has taken proactive steps to alleviate the fuel deficit. On Friday, December 22, 2023, the Ministry joyfully announced that a ship carrying 30,000 m3 of premium fuel has successfully docked in Limbé, situated in the South-West region.
The Ministry shared this significant development via social media, stating, "A ship containing a cargo of 30,000 m3 of premium fuel docked at the port of Limbé on Thursday, December 21, 2023."
This positive news comes in the wake of a recent press release from the Ministry addressing the disruption in the supply of premium gasoline in key cities, including Yaounde, Douala, and Bafoussam. The Minister of Water Resources and Energy, Gaston ELOUNDOU ESSOMBA, clarified that the delay in the arrival of three vessels carrying the product was attributed to adverse weather and sea conditions, resulting in a four-day interruption in ship-to-ship loading at the hub port of Lome.
The Minister assured the public that one of the vessels has already docked in Douala with 13,000 m3 of Super. To expedite the restoration of normalcy, arrangements were made with the Cameroon Petroleum Depots Company (SCDP) to load 81 tanker trucks throughout the night of Sunday, December 10, until Monday, December 11, 2023. Additionally, railcars were loaded to bolster stocks.
The Minister emphasized that supplies are anticipated to return to regular operation by Tuesday, December 12. Further, he reassured the population that two more vessels containing Super will arrive within the week, ensuring an ample supply of fuel throughout the festive end-of-year period.
This strategic approach by the Ministry reflects a commitment to addressing immediate challenges and ensuring a stable fuel supply for the benefit of the nation.

A seemingly routine visit by Prime Minister Dion Ngute to inaugurate the Maroua Technical High School in the Far North on December 13, 2023, has sparked an unexpected and intense conflict among traditional chiefs in the region. While the official purpose was the inauguration of an ordinary structure in Cameroon, the Prime Minister had more political calculations in mind. Dion Ngute, whose name is mentioned among potential successors to Paul Biya, has been actively building a network for political advantage, focusing on traditional chiefs and youth.
However, the situation did not unfold as planned. After his visit to the Far North, where his campaign team left a substantial gift for traditional chiefs, a problem arose over the distribution of the funds.
As a gift to the traditional chiefs, Dion Ngute provided a sum of 100 million CFA to be shared among 25 carefully selected traditional leaders. However, several days later, the money has yet to reach the hands of many intended recipients. Two traditional chiefs, responsible for compiling the list of the 25 beneficiaries of the Prime Minister's gesture, are specifically implicated in an alleged attempt to divert Chief Dion Ngute's funds.

In response to escalating tensions between Gabon and Angola, the Gabonese government has decided to recall its ambassador from Luanda, the capital of Angola. The strained diplomatic relations between the two nations have reached a point where consultations are deemed necessary.
Reports from Gabonese media indicate that Libreville's decision to recall its ambassador is rooted in disagreements arising from the military coup orchestrated by Brice Oligui Nguema against the regime of Ali Bongo Ondimba on August 30. According to RFI, tensions have flared within the headquarters of the Economic Community of Central African States (CEEAC) in Gabon, involving employees and the new leadership led by Angolan Secretary-General Gilberto da Piedade Verissimo. Allegedly, Verissimo has called for a review of employee contracts and has given more prominence to Angolan personnel within the organization, leading to discontent among Gabonese authorities.
This move signifies a deepening rift between the two nations, with diplomatic channels strained by recent political developments and disagreements within regional organizations. The recall of the Gabonese ambassador serves as a clear indicator of the severity of the diplomatic strain, leaving both countries to reassess their relationship and seek resolution to the underlying issues.

In the midst of swirling speculations surrounding a potential political reshuffle in Cameroon, three governors have recently held meetings at the Civil Cabinet of President Paul Biya. According to information disclosed by whistleblower Boris Bertolt, these meetings involved the governors of the North, Center, and Northwest regions.
The nature and scope of these discussions between the governors and the Head of State have raised questions and intrigue. However, no specifics have been provided regarding the content of the exchanges or whether the governors met directly with President Biya or with the Director of the Civil Cabinet, Samuel Mvondo Ayolo.
These meetings come on the heels of a series of consultations led by Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute, involving various figures, including his Secretary-General Séraphin Magloire Fouda. As President Biya oversees this process, Fouda Séraphin Magloire appears to play a pivotal role in shaping the future configuration of the government. His enigmatic role goes beyond mere name suggestions, occasionally including his own name in the realm of proposals.
These consultations seem to be part of the preparation for the imminent formation of a new government in Cameroon. These events fuel speculations and expectations regarding potential changes within the governmental structure. The population and political observers eagerly await further information to clarify the intentions and potential changes that may unfold in the country's political sphere.
For now, the situation remains shrouded in anticipation and conjecture. Close attention should be paid to upcoming developments to gain a clearer understanding of the direction this announced ministerial reshuffle will take.

In a shocking turn of events, vehicles belonging to Ngoh Ngoh, one of President Paul Biya's closest aides, have been requisitioned and searched as part of an investigation. According to the headlines of newspapers this Thursday, December 21, 2023, one of Ngoh Ngoh's key associates, Mayor Martin Savom, was arrested on December 19 in connection with the Martinez Zogo case, placing the Secretary-General of the Presidency in a precarious situation. Savom is portrayed as the right-hand man of the Secretary-General.
Reports from Première Heure suggest that Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh, the man entrusted with the presidential signature delegation, has been isolated, possibly awaiting the conclusion of the newly opened investigations. Disturbingly, videos of the torture inflicted on Martinez Zogo were reportedly found on Savom's phone.
The unfolding drama extends to an unsettling episode during the First Lady's birthday celebration on December 4. Ngoh Ngoh allegedly was asked to leave, and his vehicles were subjected to searches, signaling a gradual sidelining of the Secretary-General.
Rumors are circulating about the potential imminent removal of Ngoh Ngoh from his position. Behind the scenes of power, Séraphin Fouda, the current Secretary-General of the Prime Minister's Services, emerges as a prominent figure, sparking speculation about his possible appointment to the strategic position of Secretary-General of the Presidency.
Evidence mounts, revealing a noticeable time misalignment between Fouda's working hours and those of Prime Minister Dion Ngute. These elements fuel discussions about intrigues and potential reshuffles within the government.
This delicate situation at the top of the state occurs within a context where political balances and ambitions appear to be in flux. Despite persistent efforts, Ngoh Ngoh recently sought Paul Biya's approval for the replacement of Raymond Beko'o Abondo, who has been in charge of this unit since 2014, responsible for the President's main security. However, Biya has yet to respond to Ngoh Ngoh's request, adding another layer of uncertainty to the unfolding political drama.

Paul Atanga Nji, the Minister of Territorial Administration, presided over the second bi-annual governors' conference in Yaoundé on Tuesday. In his opening address, he addressed certain men of the God.
"Some pastors and elders of churches, forgetting their noble mission towards the souls of their faithful, engage in genuine acts of favoritism, manipulation, and manipulation of the faithful. Factions emerge within the churches. At times, the faithful engage in brawls during worship. These behaviors must cease," he emphasized.
Regarding land disputes at the center of tensions in both urban and rural areas, Paul Atanga Nji asserted that "traditional chiefs, Lawans, and Ardos are auxiliaries of the administration. Consequently, they must be responsible citizens respectful of the laws of the Republic. The recalcitrant, fortunately very few in number, will face the rigor of the law."
During his discourse, Paul Atanga Nji highlighted, among other concerns, the mindset of the populace in the context marked by the recent rise in the prices of essential foodstuffs, and the intermittent and prolonged disruptions of water and electricity; disruptions in the distribution chain of petroleum products resolved by a historic decision of the Head of State ending the monopoly in this sector; the continued fight against street medicine and drug consumption, especially in schools; the monitoring of development projects; the struggle against urban disorder, with a particular focus on the activity of motorcycle taxis; the resurgence of violence in various forms; femicides; the fight against land speculation; the supervision of traditional chieftaincy; the resolution of disputes over boundaries between administrative jurisdictions and traditional command units.
It is noteworthy that the resolutions of this second bi-annual governors' conference are expected on December 20, 2023.
