The Government of Cameroon through the National Gendarmerie boss, Jean Baptiste Bokam, has ordered General Agha Robinson to fight against the manufacture of war arms in the North West Regional capital Bamenda.
Jean Baptiste Bokam, dishing out instructions from his boss, Paul Biya, was speaking in Bamenda, while installing General Agah into his function.
The Government of Cameroon has been restive, since the escalation of the Anglophone Crisis.
With the present violent state of affairs in the North West and South West Regions, Government is troubled that the irate Anglophones may lay hands on locally fabricated fire arms and use them to further resist Government.
The proliferation of locally made weapons in the North West Region has further compounded Government fears.
In his installation address, Bokam said the war against terrorism and other forms of insecurity must be tackled vigorously. “As such, no locally manufacture arms should be tolerated in the Region.”
Bokam also exhorted the recently promoted military officers to fight cross-border crime and indiscipline within the ranks of the military.
Welcoming dignitaries at the installation ceremony, the Bamenda City Council Secretary General, Jude Waindim, thanked President Paul Biya for supporting the soldiers in the fight against terrorism.
He thanked the entire army corps, especially those who have paid the supreme price in the war front to protect their fatherland.
On his part, General Agha Robinson thanked the Bamenda population for their support to him and the military during this turbulent time and asserted that the population must collaborate with the military to accomplish the task assigned to them.
“I am ready to cooperate with all peace loving people for us to fight cross border crimes.
General Agah is the only son from Menchum Division of the North West Region that has ever been appointed to a coveted position by the Biya regime for over 30 years of his stewardship.

One person was killed in Cameroon when a freight train operated by state rail company Camrail derailed, less than one year after another Camrail train crash killed 79, an official said on Thursday.
Nine cars left the tracks on Wednesday near the town of Makondo, about 140 km (87 miles) west of the capital Yaounde, said an official at Camrail, who asked to remain anonymous because he was not authorized to speak about the crash.
“The train was carrying hydrocarbon products. Five cars completely overturned,” he said.
One guard on the train died from injuries, he said. He did not say how many people had been on board.
Camrail, a unit of French industrial group Bollore, was determined to be “mainly to blame” for the derailment of a passenger train last October that was going more than twice the speed limit, was overloaded and had defective brakes, according to a government report.
The government said at the time that President Paul Biya would review the concession agreement signed between the state of Cameroon and Camrail.
A Bollore spokesman in Paris declined to comment on the latest crash.
Government sources were not immediately available for comment.

Suspected Christian militiamen killed two Moroccan peacekeepers from the United Nations mission in Central African Republic on Tuesday, the mission said, in the second deadly attack on Moroccan forces this week.
The peacekeepers were ambushed by suspected anti-balaka fighters in the town of Banagassou, 700 kilometres (435 miles) east of the capital Bangui, as they stocked up on water to deliver to the population, the mission said in a statement.
Thousands have died in an ethnic and religious conflict that broke out when mainly Muslim Seleka rebels ousted President Francois Bozize in 2013, provoking a backlash from Christian anti-balaka militias.
Tuesday's raid, which injured a third soldier, followed similar attacks by suspected anti-balaka fighters in the diamond-mining town in recent days, including one on Sunday that killed a Moroccan peacekeeper and left three others wounded.
The violence has prompted several humanitarian organisations to suspend their activities in Bangassou, where fighting in May killed at least 115 people.
It also points to the inability of the 13,000-strong U.N. force to contain violence in a country where government control barely extends outside the capital.
"I am shocked by these new losses of human life and I firmly condemn this flagrant violation of the right to life and of international law," mission chief Parfait Onanga-Anyanga said in the statement.
Violence has escalated in Central African Republic since former colonial power France ended its peacekeeping mission in the country last year, and despite a peace deal signed between the government and rival factions in Rome last month.

An individual, spoke bitterly against the Cameroonian based private TV Station (Vision 4) who are reported to have ordered the arrest of a number of people among whom he was included.
“This morning during one of their ‘dirty’ programs, the people who call themselves dinosaurs of information, led by Ernest Obama, a journalist of the concerned media organ, read out some names which they said are of people who need to be arrested. We are accused of criticising the regime. Has telling President Paul Biya that people are suffering become a crime?” he pondered.
This man is the head of this list of miserable and poverty stricken people, who struggle to fit themselves into society. He is accused of incest and satanic practices in his family, which makes it even more difficult for him to survive in society with his “barrow pusher” business. He is despised by his friends and women for being dirty and dull.
