Members of the Circle of Friends of Cameroon (CERAC) decided to keep fit to commence activities marking the 20th anniversary of their association. Last Saturday December 12, 2015 over 70 national and diplomatic members of the charitable association created by the First Lady of Cameroon, Mrs Chantal Biya, undertook a sports walk of about two kilometres from the Rond-Point Bastos Junction to the Yaounde Parcours Vita.
Accompanied by the rhythms of the National Institute of Youths and Sports (INJS) band, the women happily walked to the Parcours Vita sport complex to carry out some acrobatic movements of their bodies. It all started in the early hours of that Saturday when the women assembled at the Bastos Rond-Point Junction and began by stretching out their bodies so as to relax their muscles. According to one of the Sports and Physical Education Instructors at Parcours Vita Yaounde, Franco Njuafac Azuancha, the exercise was meant to avoid surprises such as fractures. Shortly after, CERAC women, carrying the banner “Sports Walk, Health, Friendship, Solidarity and Sharing”, walked through the main road into the Parcours Vita Sports Complex. Franco Njuafac said it was an average walk as they took into consideration the ages of the women.
While at Parcours Vita, the sports instructor said they had to animate the day since the women were celebrating their 20th anniversary. As such, they were thrilled to some acrobatics for about 10 minutes during which the women in a sporting manner danced to some rhythms from the INJS band. Thereafter, the women had their bodies stretched again to bring the muscles back to normal. The sports event was a success not only to the women but also to their instructors who said there was no accident or trauma. After keeping the body system fit, as well as bringing the heart rate to a normal, CERAC women today, Monday December 14, continue celebration with a special church service and an open-door event to mark the 20th anniversary of their association. Celebrations are holding under the patronage of the First Lady with theme “20 Years of Sharing”.

Fecafoot officially launched its search for a new national team coach on Sunday, following the sacking of Volker Finke on 30 October.
Fecafoot, who placed Alexandre Belinga in temporary charge of the Indomitable Lions following Finke's dismissal, advertised for applications on their website.
As interim coach, Belinga helped Cameroon reach the next round of 2018 World Cup qualifying, beating Niger 3-0 away and drawing 0-0 at home.
Fecafoot says it is open to looking at applications from a foreign coach - not just native Cameroonians - and has given a deadline of 15 December for applications to be submitted.
The Federation also outlines an intriguing list of requirements for anyone hoping to become the next Cameroon coach.
On a professional level, knowledge of African football is required as well as football coaching certificates and experience in coaching elite football clubs.
The advertisement also asks applicants to "have won trophies", speak French and or English and "be willing to permanently reside in Cameroon."
Since Finke's sacking, speculation has been rife in Cameroonian and international media about who his replacement may be.
67-year-old Claude Le Roy, who recently resigned from the Congolese national team, is a former Cameroon coach and has previously indicated a desire to end his career with the Indomitable Lions.
He is a favourite of Cameroonian legend Roger Milla who is thought to support the idea of having Le Roy back with Cameroon.
LeRoy has coached at a record eight African Nations Cup finals, including winning the tournament with Cameroon in 1988.
He only once failed to reach the quarter-finals of the Nations Cup and took Congo to the last eight place at the tournament in Equatorial Guinea in January.
After the 15 December deadline passes, a Fecafoot committee will scrutinise the applications and then create a shortlist of five from where the new Cameroon coach will be selected.
