The GCE examination at Lycee Bilingue d’Akwa Nord in Douala has witnessed heavy military presence this morning as form 5 and upper 6th students were making their way into the school to sit in for the 2016/2017 highly controversial examination session.
The military men who made their presence known from the gate right into the classrooms could be seen holding fire arms and patrolling everywhere on the school campus.
Many have condemned this situation saying this could instead bring fear to the students who are already very nervous giving the situation of the country. Critics say bringing military to schools will not solve the crisis.
“Bringing all military in schools will not solve the Anglophone crisis. Absolute security can never be guaranteed by the military alone. It takes cooperation from the entire population to guarantee security” says a critic. “The government needs to call for dialogue with leaders of the crisis many of whom are still in detention in order to come up with a lasting solution and put this squabbles to rest” he adds.

The population of Kumba in Meme Division of the South West Region of Cameroon is becoming edgy; following two tragic incidents that hit the Divisional headquarters within a four days.
There was total consternation in the metropolis on Tuesday, May 10, when 31-year-old Ebango Rexson beheaded his 61-year-old mother.
Rexson was protesting over the non-availability of beef commonly called ‘cow meat’ his plate of food.
According to reports, the gluttonous Rexson was served food and after eating all the food, he complained that he was not satisfied and thus requested the mother to add him more food.
His 61-year-old mother, Agnes Ebango, decided to increase the food, but this time around she decided to give Rexson hid commonly called ‘canda’ instead of meat.
After consuming the second plate of food, the epicurean Rexson forcefully went to the mother’s port and served himself without permission. He almost emptied the meat in the pot.
Bewildered by the behaviour of his son, Agnes told Rexson that his unruly behaviour was becoming a cause for concern and that it will be advisable for him to move out of the house and look for his own accommodation, where he can become a master of his own and to eat what he likes at anytime, without asking permission from anybody.
Infuriated by his mother’s comment, Rexson reportedly picked up a machete and reaped-off his mothers head. News of the incident spread in the Fiango neighbourhood like a wild inferno and within a twinkling of an eye, the Ebango’s resident was already teeming with angry youths who attempted to squeeze life out of Rexon.
The culprit was only rescued by the police from mob justice.
Before the population of Kumba could even come to terms with the incident, tragedy struck again on Saturday, May 13, this time claiming the life of a teenager.
According to reports, the deceased had an argument with her cousin that ended up in a fight.
Even though the fight was later separated by neighbours, when the two cousins retired, the little one is said to have used a stick and hit the elder one on the ribs. This left her gasping for breath. She was rushed to the hospital, but later died hours after.
Tongues are already wagging following the two tragic incidents as nobody knows who will be next.

CAMEROONPOSTLINE: When the forces of law and order opened fire on Anglophone demonstrators in November 2016, they hardly anticipated the agony that would befall those who survived.
Today, six of the victims all in the Northwest Region have been neglected by the Government. Nonetheless, thanks to assistance from well-wishers abroad whose attention was drawn to their case by one Mao Pascal.
According to Mao, it all started when he went to visit a friend at the hospital. When he reached there, the case of 11-year-old Tchitson Dalva Joel, who was shot at Old Town while in their store, caught his attention.
“When I arrived at the hospital to visit a friend, I saw this young child abandoned in serious pain. He was shot above the waist by the police and was in deep pain and the family could not immediately take care of his bills.
That is when I took pictures of him and posted them on Facebook pleading for help,” Mao explained.
Other cases include that of Amana Fritze whose testacies were shot, Julius Vershiyi shot on the leg, Jarvis Che Lai shot on the leg, Ambe Edwin who was shot multiple times and Nguti Esponibial who was shot around Ntarinkon.
“I took pictures of them in pains, wrote an appeal for help on Facebook,” said Mao.
Although these pictures were not permitted on Facebook, Mao said Facebook allowed the pictures to be online for some length of time. During this period, money was raised which enabled him to transfer the victims from the Bamenda General Hospital where they were given little or no care, to the Baptist Hospital in Mbingo.
Mao also revealed that at least FCFA 1 million was spent on each of the victims during their stay at the Baptist Hospital.
In order to ensure accountability, Mao said he usually made a video of him donating the money to the family of the victims and post them on the social media to assure the donors that the money reached the victims.
The victims, Mao said, had at least four surgeries each thanks to support from Sacred Heart College Class of 1991 coordinated by Kidjem Jude in the USA.
When this reporter visited 11-year-old Dalva Joel at their home in Old Town-Bamenda, he was on crutches.
According to a medical report presented, Joel, due to the bullet, is suffering from complex fracture of the right acetabulum with three bone fragments, minimal displacements and conservation of the morphology of the hip joint.
Asked if the family will press charges against the Government, the parents of Joel who are peasant farmers, said they will not press any charges as all they want is for their child to be normal again.
They, however, bemoan the fact that the situation has caused the family so much pain.
Shot on December 8, 2016, Joel laments that he miss playing with his friends and also miss football for which he has so much passion for.
Till date, Mao constantly visits all the victims as part of the follow-up program for their rehabilitation.

Excessive greed, the Bible says, kills. But this time it did not kill greedy 31-year-old Rixson Ebango who hails from Kupemuanenguba Division in the Southwest Region. Instead, ‘long throat’ for meat influenced Ebango to cut clean his mother’s head off her neck; not to add the meat to his scrubby stew but to quench his anger at being deprived of venison in a meal.
With a history of mental disorder,( Rexon had gone mentally upset for more than 7 years running) Ebango hacked his mother’s head on May 10 at their home on St. Francis Street in Fiango, leaving the inhabitants of Kumba dumbfounded. His reason to use a machete to end his mother’s life was simple; he was served a meal without beef!
And so 62-year-old Agnes Ebango was quickly transported to the world beyond with a quick swing of a cutlass.
On the fateful day, Ebango was reportedly served food and upon inspection of the dish, discovered only two slices of 'canda’ (cow skin), and meat was lacking.
After complaining, the young man was given more food. Still unsatisfied, Ebango dived for the pot from which he fished a piece of meat to his mother’s chagrin.
Reports said Ebango’s mother snapped that he would have to leave the house and because of that his possessions had been packed and ready to go.
Ebango said not a word, but moments later, he secured a cutlass and severed his mother’s head. A half an hour later, police arrested Ebango and detained him at the Kumba Central Police Station.
Ebango’s mother’s corpse was ferried for preservation as police opened investigations into the matter.
